Gran Turismo 2 Gets the Nod Sony tells us what we've known for all too long, Gran Turismo 2 is official in North America. February 11, 1999 With screen-shots of Gran Turismo 2 packing the latest Edge and soon to be seen in Next Generation - and tons of tidbits already known about the game - Sony told us what we've wanted to hear for months now (and would've bet our moms on). A North American version of Gran Turismo 2 is official. Launching this summer, the highly anticipated follow-up to Gran Turismo looks to offer tons of new changes, additions, and modifications over the original game. Some of these changes include a whopping 400 car models from world-class manufacturers including more European and American manufacturers; more than 20 racing courses (the original game offered more than 150 different cars and 11 tracks); and numerous improvements to handling, driving response, and more. "I never expected Gran Turismo to do this well," said Kazanouri Yamauchi, lead developer and executive vice president, Polyphony Digital. "This title has been incredibly popular worldwide, and my goal is to make the sequel an even better product." Gran Turismo 2 is being developed and produced by the creators of Gran Turismo, Polyphony Digital (a satellite company of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.). The original title has shipped (not sold-through, mind you) 6.2 million units worldwide; 1.66 million in the United States; 2.21 million in Japan, and 2.33 million in Europe. "This announcement comes with Gran Turismo still at the height of its popularity and demonstrates that the PlayStation gaming experience continuously evolves through new and more advanced games," said Andrew House, vice president, marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "Gran Turismo 2 builds on the ground-breaking immersive gameplay of the original by giving gamers more car choices, different courses to race and new modifications to fine tune their cars."

		なんとなく理解できた部分は "ヨーロッパ、そしてアメリカの世界的車メーカーから400車種と20のコースを収録、前作では、150車種以上で11コースだった" とあります。 "世界中で累計620万本、アメリカ合衆国で166万本、日本で221万本、ヨーロッパで233万本を出荷した" と併記されています。

	残念ながら画像を見る限り、FD3Sは新型ではないようです。(掲載されているのは前作のオープニング画面かも?) ※ランサーもEvo Vのようですね イタリア車の画像がUPされていない点を察するに、未だメーカーと交渉中?という事でしょうか。 益々期待が高まるGran Turistmo 2 ですが、デモ版等の「動いた画面」を目にする事ができるのは何時頃? 本年初めて「WHAT'S NEW」の更新です。前回の更新が昨年のクリスマスですから、いや〜本当に久しぶりの更新でお恥ずかしい限りです。 昨年末から開催しておりました「GT発売一周年企画 :1st Anniversary Event〜最短日数争奪杯〜GT LEAGUE編」も先日02/08日中の記録申請を持ちまして、無事終了いたしました。イベント参加人数も大方の予想通り3人という少数精鋭で、何度もリロードを繰り返しながら敵車エントリーを待つ...といった「気の長い作業」の中で記録が更新されていきました。最終結果の表示はこちら。 さて、先日飛び込んできた「Gran Turismo 2 (正式名称なのかは判りません)」発売決定情報ですが「ただぽさん」の当BBS投稿記事によると http://www.silent-news.com に開発中画像と情報が載ってます。 下記画像と原文は上記URLから引用した物です。

All the game's other aspects must be used with the remaining 50 percent. ゲームの残された部分は、残りのCPUパワー50%と共に使われなければならない. Gran Turismo 2 will use 100% of the Playstation's maximum performance (Gran Turismo used 75%). Gran Turismo ２は、Play Stationの持つ処理能力の最大パフォーマンスを100%使う. (前作のGran TurismoではPlay Stationの処理能力75%を使用) 凄い事が記述されているのですが、私には良く理解出来ません (笑) Motor Toon GPもやった経験がないので比較対象もできませんが「前作を上回る出来栄え」にはなりそうな予感。 でも前作ってPlay Stationの処理能力を75%しか使ってなかったんですね。ビックリ。
	100%使いきるという事は、現行のPlay Station版ソフトとして発売されるという事ですよね? 新たなハード購入を考える必要がないという事は「お財布にも優しい」ので嬉しいですね〜。 Summer of '99 is the scheduled release date of Gran Turismo 2. I'm sorry for the bad quality of the Gran Turismo 2 screenshots, because my scanner is wrecked I need to use my digital cam for taking these screenshots. 私のスキャナーが故障したので、スクリーンショットを撮影する為にデジタルカメラを使用しなければならず、Gran Turismo 2のスクリーンショット画像が粗れてしまった事を大変申し訳なく思っている. どうやら作者の方はデジタルカメラで雑誌を撮影されたようですね。その苦労は遠く離れた日本のGTファンのハートをガッチリ掴んだことでしょう。 あ〜、もっと奇麗な画像が見たいな〜。どこかに転がってないでしょうか?
